The nominations for the 2023 Academy Awards are official, and this year brings some interesting choices!
First of all, the bizarrely inventive Everything Everywhere All at Once leads the pack with 11 nominations, including Best Picture. Following right behind on the list is the out of left field World War I remake of All Quiet on the Western Front along with the dark horse pick of The Banshees of Inisherin, both with nine nominations including Best Picture.
It’s kinda wild to see Top Gun: Maverick get six nominations including Best Picture! While it appears the committee threw James Cameron a bone with Avatar: The Way of Water receiving a Best Picture nomination and their nod to Spielberg’s personal chronicle The Fabelmans, Tár, Elvis, Women Talking and Triangle of Sadness.
Finally there are some wonderfully nostalgic surprises this year with Brendan Fraser nominated for a Best Actor and Ke Huy Kwan for Best Supporting Actor roles!
Read on to see the complete list, with personal picks in italics and predictions for the win in bold.
